Connecting the cables

Matching channels

Make sure that the cables correspond to the channels:

  • The left output of the preamplifier is connected to the power amplifier driving the left loudspeaker.
  • The right output of the preamplifier is connected to the power amplifier driving the right loudspeaker.

XLR cables

Ensure that the XLR plugs are inserted correctly: the Naim logo should be facing upwards.

DIN cables

The taped end of the DIN cable should be connected to the source component.

Burndy Cable (Type 3 and 4)

The taped end of the Burndy cable should be connected to the source component.

Best audio quality

Placement

To reduce the risk of hum from loudspeakers, power supplies and power amplifiers should be positioned at a reasonable distance from the rest of the equipment.

The maximum separation distance between connected equipment is that allowed by the standard interconnect cable.

Running-in

Your Naim equipment needs time to break-in: sound quality may continue to improve for more than a month.

Better and more consistent performance is achieved if the system is kept warm.

Switching on

Always switch off the amplifiers and wait one minute before connecting or disconnecting cables.

Always use the product's standby button rather than a wall socket switch.
